Page Kirkpatrick, who started Stewart in ABC, graduated from 6th grade. Page enjoyed how much she learned at Stewart and the many friendships she developed. In ABC she recalls standing on the blue dots lining up to go to recess and Mr. Powell’s big map and trying to guess where his cartoon was.
Page loved art class but mainly because Miss Pat was such a character. Miss Pat let everyone have free reign over his or her projects, and “We listened to stories about her many animals.” Whenever she had a soar throat Miss Pat let them have candy.
Page’s hardest subject was Culture and sometimes it still is hard for her. She didn’t have much interest in Culture, but she appreciated learning about certain time periods in history. Page’s best memories that happened at Stewart are: “Soccer, Mr. Gee wheeling me around on my 12th birthday, capture the flag, cheerleading, math bowl- eating donuts every morning and getting our calculators sticky.”
The teachers Page will always remember are: Mr. Maulin, Mrs. Pat, Mrs. Carmichael, Mr. Carmichael, Mr. Powell, and Mrs. Reed. Page participated in cheerleading in 3rd grade, she has been doing ice skating since she was 3 years old, she did CICC, played piano, violin, took dance lessons, and participated in community theatre. Page says she will always remember the many trips that she attended while at Stewart such as Washington D.C, Space camp, Bradford woods, the zoo, and paging at the State House. Page loved the Halloween parties, the in school graduations, and the many programs. Regarding her Stewart graduation speech, Page recalls dividing the topics with her class, but she can’t remember the topics and she also remembers her father taking pictures during her graduation speech. When Page left Stewart she was really sad because of all of the friends, teachers, and memories that happened at Stewart.
While in Middle School, Page participated in figure skating, show choir, drama, musical theatre, dance, and ICC. Page says that the research papers she did at Stewart helped her write papers in Middle School and High school. Page has traveled to Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and France in only ten days. Now that she is graduating from Carmel High School, she feels that she is very ready.
In the fall Page plans to attend Northwestern University. She chose Northwestern University because she wants to study theatre. At the moment she doesn’t have any scholarships but she is hoping that she will earn one for being a National Merit Finalist. Page hopes her major will be theatre arts, with probably a double major in Psychology or Business.
Page’s advice for the students here at Stewart is “to work hard and play hard, enjoy your childhood and live, and don’t be afraid to push yourself!”
