Nate Downing attends Columbus North High School. He enjoyed the challenge here at Stewart and he remembers the long capture the flag games he used to have with his friends. In his years at Stewart he did not attend pre-school.
Although math for Nate was his hardest subject, he was very interested in it. At Stewart he had many of memories, including his life long friends he made here, He remembers the challenges he faced and the people that have helped him.
The teachers that Nate remembers are Mr. Maulin, Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael, and Mrs. Solso. He participated in math bowl and basketball. At North he participates in basketball and soccer and he is in the principles diversity council.
The papers and homework that Nate wrote while at Stewart have helped him in middle school and High school. Nate recalls his Stewart trip Washington D.C., Space camp, Bradford Woods, the zoo, Paging and the Third house. Nate also remembers American History Day, Egyptian or Greek Day, Renaissance Day, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas program and party, Valentine Tea, Talent Show, the school dance, the graduation roast, the haunted house, and more. In the talent show, he and his friends did the spice girls “It was a blast.” Nate says he always looked forward to those events.
At North High School he plays soccer, and has received a couple of soccer awards. He was captain of the soccer team as a senior. He was selected to district in 2004 and 2005. He was selected third team all state this year.
During his summers he cuts grass, plays soccer and basketball and helps out young kids play basketball. His greatest accomplishment was making the honor roll.
Stewart helped him prepare for the hard work he had to do. When Nate left Stewart, he did not take it very well. He did not want to leave all is friends behind. After finishing high school he felt great about accomplishing his goal. The college Nate would like attend is the Chicago campus, University of Illinois, because he feels he can gain an excellent education there.
The advice he gives to Stewart students “Have fun in school it goes by really fast.”
