Lauran Benjamin was born in 1985 in Columbus, Indiana. From 1988 to 1996, Lauran attended Stewart School. Her greatest challenges were math and to keep from laughing in circle time. She enjoyed learning at her own pace, independent study, all the school programs and water day at the end of the year. Lauran’s favorite subjects were writing and art. She still has an interest in the same subjects.

Today, at North High School she most enjoys Modern Literature class, her Calculus class, and her Drawing class. Lauran loves to play tennis and read. Lauran said that Stewart aided her in her older years of high school. Stewart helped her experience a unique way of learning and she developed a love of learning at a young age at ABC-Stewart School.

Lauran is still friends with some of her favorite classmates from Stewart, namely, Jessamyn Schertz, Emily Jordan, Veronica Henry, Stephanie Stackhouse, Gillian Fealy and Jackie Kleine. Her favorite teachers at Stewart were Mrs. Mumley, Mr. Jim, and Mrs. Clingan. She was sorry that we couldn’t meet them. Lauran enjoyed having Mrs. Solso read to the class in homeroom. Mrs. Mumley always bragged about her “beautiful” grammar boxes.

Lauran’s favorite memories at Stewart were looking for four leaf clovers, all of our school programs, and playing with her friends. Lauran’s Mom and Dad are Marcia and Bruce Benjamin. She also has two younger brothers, Dylan, who is 15, and Logan, who is 11. She added, “Of course I love Logan the best.”

She plans to go to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her advice for student today is “junior high may not be as challenging as Stewart, but it also may not be as much fun. Take advantage of every moment because it goes by quickly! Even now, sometimes I wish I could go back and relive my Stewart days!”
